1. What This Website Is

Montgomery County Criminal History is an independent private reference site, not a government office. It does not hold official criminal records, conduct official background checks, retrieve files for visitors, or submit documents on anyone's behalf.

The website directs readers to Montgomery County record custodians, including the Sheriff's Office and the courts, as well as the Virginia Department of State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange and the Virginia State Police Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia FOIA, Code §2.2-3700 et seq., governs many public-body records; §17.1-208 separately addresses court records, and §19.2-389 limits CCRE dissemination. Links may also lead to outside tools that can assist with personal research.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you agree not to:

• Use the website in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
• Stalk, intimidate, threaten, or harass another person with information found here
• Rely on website content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from the website or a linked service to harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or discriminate against anyone. Registry information requires particular care. Virginia Code §9.1-918 prohibits unauthorized use, intimidation, and harassment involving Virginia State Police Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry information, and a willful violation can be a crime. Registry data supports public safety awareness. It is not a basis for vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Montgomery County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produces no credit, background, or consumer reports.
